Restaurant Window Dressing

Tado Tiene Buen Sabor

A few months ago, I wrote about a food photography client, Johnny Maumbo’s Famous Chicken & Fish. Since then, we’ve completed other branding activities for the restaurant, culminating in the installation of our window dressing concept.

In thinking about the design, we had a few objectives to juggle:

  • Create huge impact without totally covering up the windows. We want people on the outside to see the excitement on the inside.
  • The food images must look good enough to make you want to lick the window (or minimally tantalize you enough to buy lunch).
  • Include the menu in the design layout vs. simply taping a smaller table version to the window.
  • Welcome the Latino community with bilingual signage and menus.

Check, check, check, and check. I think our objectives were met, but most importantly, walk-in traffic has more than quadrupled since the window signage installation.

Special thanks to Fast Signs of Owings Mills for their responsiveness, design assistance, and expert installation.
